We know you were miffed when Hedi Slimane, the new creative director for Saint Laurent Paris (yea sounds really weird not saying YVES) announced MAY-jah changes at the French fashion house formerly known as Yves Saint Laurent.  Aside from the not giving us regular folks a sneak peek at his resort collection and moving the creative studio to Los Angeles, we all shed a small tear when the name we’ve come to know and love suddenly changed.

On Saturday, YSL (we’ll keep saying it until the Spring ’13 collection goes down the runway this September) unveiled the new logo for the brand via its Facebook page.  The new font is very generic but sophisticated. It seems a return to some what of a minimalist approach.  Many of the brand’s fans took to the Facebook comment section to make their opinions known that they loathed the new change.

Whether you love or hate the new packaging and logo, one thing that’s for certain is that changes are coming and they’re going to be huge.  Hedi Slimane isn’t playing folks.  On a brighter note, those with the old YSL packaging and gift boxes etc. should be able to fetch some cash on ebay since they’re bound to be collector’s items.
