Michelle Obama and British First Lady Samantha Cameron On Trend for Spring

March 14, 2012

British First Lady Samantha Cameron joined her husband, Prime Minister David Cameron, for her first state visit yesterday.  Mrs. Cameron, a certified style star in Britain, of course not in comparison to the one and only Kate Middleton, touched down on US soil wearing a short black Burberry trench coat, with black cigarette pants by Joseph, also a favorite brand of Kate. Mrs. Cameron made the rounds during London Fashion Week in the front row at Burberry and other higher end designers.  Upon arriving, the First Ladies headed up Wisconsin Avenue to American University for a childhood obesity awareness event, with both women looking on trend for spring in bright colors.

Mrs. Obama looked statuesque in cream trousers and a yellow button down shirt with a floral motif and matching sweater by L’Wren Scott.  Mrs. Cameron, not to be upstaged, wore a bright fuchsia top by British designer Roksanda Ilincic, also a favorite of the Duchess of Cambridge.  She took a page out of Mrs. Obama’s book by cinching the waist with a thin black belt.  Carrying on the theme of British designers, Mrs. Cameron completed her outfit with suede shoes by British brand L.K. Bennett.

Mrs. Cameron’s black Burberry trench is currently on sale on the British label’s website.  The Obamas will host the Cameron’s tonight at the White House with a formal dinner.  We’re bound to see Anna Wintour and a slew of celebrities in their midst.  I am putting my money on Mrs. Cameron wearing McQueen, Temperley London or Burberry, though it would be refreshing to see her in Erdem or Stella McCartney.

So to recap, Mrs. Cameron shops at the same haunt as the Duchess of Cambridge, including:

  • Joseph
  • LK Bennett
  • Roksanda Ilincic
  • Burberry
