Kate Moss Replaces Scarlett Johansson as Face of Mango

January 24, 2012

Mango announced today that supermodel Kate Moss will be the new face of the brand and unveiled a few images from her upcoming spring 2012 campaign.  Moss teamed up with photographer Terri Richardson, whom she had previously shot a short video with for Mango’s fall 2012 runway show in Paris, for the shoot.

Known for using iconic faces for its advertising campaigns – Claudia Schiffer to Elizabeth Hurley to Penélope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson have all had their turns – Mango said Kate Moss fits the profile of who they are looking for to increase brand recognition in the markets the fast fashion brand operates.

“Kate Moss was chosen as the image of Mango because she is a world-famous fashion icon, making her one of the most sought-after models in the fashion world,” said a Mango spokeswoman when asked about putting Moss, who has had a tarnished past on its campaigns.

“She had a turbulent past, which she has put behind her to continue being a supermodel, and has recently married and become a mother. After two decades appearing on catwalks worldwide, she has demonstrated that she is the top model par excellence.”

The advertising campaigns should be in stores and in advertisements this spring. Check out some of the behind the scenes images below.
