Try a Trend: Opera Length Gloves

There is something so elegant about long opera gloves, which has the power to transform an outfit into something ultra glamorous.  For his Fall/Winter 2012 collection for Lanvin, Alber Elbaz accessorized many of his pieces with long leather and suede gloves.  These gloves were then accessorized with ornate cuffs and bangles.  This look was definitely overt but you can make a statement with just these feminine gloves alone.

Long leather gloves don’t come cheap; most will run you upwards of $1,200 but you can snag some for as little as $130 at Barneys.  If you are on a budget, opt for long silk or satin opera length gloves, which go past the wrist and up to the elbow or up the bicep.  Channeling your inner Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn is a cinch with many of the gloves I’ve picked out below.  You can wear gloves with a cocktail length dress or take an evening gown to new heights.  You just need to have the confidence to wear it proudly.
