Tibi Spring 2012

September 19, 2011

Don’t call Tibi designer Amy Smilovic a one trick pony.  For spring, she shied away from frilly dresses she’s known for and moved towards the borrowed-from-the-boys look with pants, and lots of them.  Styled by blogger Elaine Kling, the spring 2012 collection for the contemporary women’s brand had a slew of colorful and ultra wide leg pants, which at first glance looked like maxi skirts.  Coined a skant (skirt-pant) or a pirt (pant-skirt)  by me, these will be a must have on the red carpet and for socialites.  The silhouette is flattering and looks stunning with the sleeveless silk tanks and shirts styled with the looks.

Of course there were flowy silk dresses, a seafoam green halter shift dress with pleats so delicate it looked as though the model was floating on air.  A yellow strapless knee length frock worn by an African American model looked so stunning I couldn’t help but picture myself in that specific dress for a spring outing.  Tibi’s spring collection is definitely more grown-up and sophisticated than seasons past.  Look for leather, silks and cutouts in pastel colors, whites, yellow, mint green and black for the Tibi girl this spring.
