Fresh Face Friday: Jet Setting? Hit the Beauty Aisle Before You Board

May 27, 2011

As a Glamazon who’s got quite the “habit” of stocking up on makeup, taking it off the right way and taking care of my skin is something that’s equally as important. Fresh Face Friday is dedicated to spending hours at the skin care counter, pouring over spreads in the glossies, and be more than willing to try the products and give you our honest opinion.

Now that Spring has finally arrived, I know everyone is prepping to get away.  Whether you’re hopping on the Jitney to the Hamptons or jetting off to Cabo, you’re going to want to make sure to carry the essentials for your skin.  Scorching climates and heat can affect your skin so it’s best to be prepared.

It’s hard to be able to carry travel sizes of ALL my skin must-haves. I’m too lazy to do those “fill this up yourself” kits. Which is why 3floz.com has quickly become one of my favorite sites. It offers some of the best brands on the market in sizes made with the carry-on in mind. Now, while I love the site’s offerings for traveling – I have to admit that I carry a lot of my 3floz.com purchases every single day. Like most girls, I have a “necessities” kit that includes dry shampoo, deodorant, Wisps, and other essentials.

And now my tried and true suggestions for traveling internationally, locally, or for whenever your skin needs a boost…

Air repair kit – grab & glow essentials for travel and beyond, $35.00

We’re sure you know the signs of “just landed” skin. It’s dry, dull, and at times irritated and red. After stress triggered a break out while I was on vacation, I picked this up on a whim and have now added it to my all-time favorites list. With the air repair kit, you’ll have everything you need to keep your skin hydrated or just to freshen up after heading to a few beauty events and still going out for a late dinner. I’m also a huge fan of the air repair beauty boost – it’s absolutely necessary if there’s an important meeting post-flight or someone special is picking you up.

The Kit includes:

Air Repair Beauty Balm: To wake up dull, tired and dehydrated skin.  This fast absorbing balm, loaded with humectants and antioxidants, soothes and hydrates the skin and also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Air Repair Facial Mist:  Quenches dry skin with moisture rich aloe leaf juice, hyaluronic acid and sodium PCA, leaving the skin more supple and radiant.

Air Repair Rescue Balm: This all-purpose salve doubles as both a lips and hands and can also be used as a gentle eye makeup remover.

Air Repair Cleansing Milk:  The silky cleansing milk removes dirt and impurities from your skin while preserving moisture and rehydrating the skin.

Air Repair Eye Cream:  Protect the delicate skin under your eyes after cleansing with this moisture packed eye cream.

First aid beauty essentials kit, $15.00

I first tried First Aid Beauty from a friend who travels constantly on long flights. After using the trial size of the Face Cleanser, I knew it’d be perfect additional to my necessities kit. With sensitive skin, I look for cleansers that don’t over dry and are made as simply as possible. FAB promises that each of the items in the essentials kit is free of parabens, harsh chemicals, and colorants.

The kit includes:

  • Face Cleanser: This mild, nourishing cleanser is ideal for all skin types. Regular use calms redness and reduces skin reactivity
  • Daily Face Cream: Light-weight, oil free and non-comedogenic. Perfect for oily, combination or acne-prone skin
  • Gentle Body Wash: If fragrance and harsh ingredients wreak havoc on your skin, this irritant-free wash is just what the doctor ordered
  • Body Moisturizer: Sensitive, dry skin? Skin hydrators and protectants in the formula lock in moisture and melt away rough, dry skin

AHAVA Sunshield Travel Kit SPF 30, $25.00

I know few people who have anything bad to say about AHAVA. The smell, the consistency, and the price are completely spot-on IMO.  In my experience, balms never quite get the consistency right; usually being too thick or not thick enough. The AHAVA Sunshield travel kit is for sun worshipers who like to spend hours relaxing outdoors.  Start the day off with the AHAVA Sun Protection Anti-Aging Moisturizer, which has SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays.  The After Sun Rehydrating Balm comes in handy when nursing a tan. Use it after a long day out in the sun to sooth, replenish and protect skin from further sun damage.

What are some of your must-haves for on-the-go?
