During a recent visit the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia in April, women’s wear designer Derek Lam announced the creation of a diffusion line to be called ’10 Crosby,’ the address of his SoHo boutique. The collection, which launches November 2011 with a Summer 2011 preview, will consist of versatile clothes that will take busy women from work to play effortlessly.
Lam is quickly growing a loyal fan base among young women who love his design aesthetic but cannot afford his higher end line with is collaboration with eBay, which launched online last week. The 10 Crosby diffusion line will retail for $195 to $895, still not cheap. “One of the values I really want to express with the 10 Crosby collection is that while the collection has a more accessible approach, it is still about clothing of value and integrity of design.”
Lam is a big fan of “designing for a woman living in this moment.” The ’10 Crosby’ collection will encompass separates for the girl-on-the go.
