Celebrities, socialites, media and political wonks flocked to our nation’s capital this weekend for exclusive parties, brunches and cocktail receptions, all surrounding the biggest event of the weekend, the White House Correspondents Association Dinner (WHCAD). The dinner itself took place at the Washington Hilton in Adams Morgan. Word from dinner attendees was that guest speaker, Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers, along with President Obama made hilarious quips at real estate mogul Donald Trump’s expense, with “the Donald” not cracking as much as a smile. After dinner, guests dispersed to the many private parties held Embassy’s and private houses, including the 6th Annual Capitol File Magazine White House Correspondents Dinner After Party co-hosted by the Creative Coalition and Bing at the Ronald Reagan International Building.
Guests descended the long staircase into the atrium of the Reagan Building to the beat of DJ Clockwork’s mix of top 40 hits, to discover an elegant decor redesigned with dramatic lighting, elegant votives, white drapes and lively trees and flowering. A fully stocked bar took over the center of the room as well as several smaller bars stocked with chilled prosecco from La Marca, wines from William Hill Estate Winery and Corona Light. With drinks in hand, guests awaited with baited breath for the stars to hit the red carpet.
Capitol File magazine Editor-in-Chief Kate Bennett and publisher Sarah Schaffer, along with Niche Media founder Jason Binn, welcomed members of the Creative Coalition including, Robin Bronk, Entourage’s Jeremy Piven, Glee’s Chris Colfer, Scream 4’s David Arquette, a very pregnant Alyssa Milano, Gossip Girl’s Michelle Trachtenberg (wearing Marchesa) and Modern Family’s Ariel Winter.
Other members of the Creative Coalition who enjoyed the night lounging on black sofas in the Bing VIP lounge were Holes’ Patricia Arquette, Over Her Dead Body’s Jason Biggs, RV’s Cheryl Hines (who told us she was wearing SPANX underneath her gorgeous one shoulder beaded gown), White Chicks’ Marlon Wayans, Private Practice’s Tim Daly, Love & Basketball’s Omar Epps, Two and a Half Men’s Angus T. Jones and ER’s Mekhi Phifer.
Fashion designer Victor de Souza, event planner Andre Wells, Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder and his wife, and Senator John McCain’s daughter Meghan McCain were also in attendance at the fete.
