Garnier Fructis goes green with its latest line of shampoos, conditioners and styling products line Pure Clean, part of a two year initiative to bring environmentally sustainable products to consumers. Made of 94 percent biodegradable formula, the Pure Clean product line, aims to reduce the amount of landfill waste beauty and personal products contribute to the environment. If you are wondering what that number is, well ladies and gents, it’s astonishing. Personal and beauty products contribute 1/3 of all landfill waste, a jaw dropping ratio that should give consumers cause for concern. To encourage everyone to do their part in healing the earth, Garnier has partnered with TerraCycle, known for turning trash into reusable materials, for the Cleaner Greener World Tour.
The Cleaner Greener World Tour bus made a stop in Times Square on Tuesday to educate consumers on eliminating their carbon footprint, one beauty product at a time. Garnier and its eco-conscience partner, TerraCycle encouraged guests to bring empty cosmetic cases, hair care and skincare bottles and containers for recycling. All collected personal care and beauty packaging will be repurposed by TerraCycle, reusing it to build eco-friendly playgrounds across the U.S.. Garnier scientists did demonstrations on the effectiveness of the new Pure Clean product line, which are non-toxic to the ecosystem, contain zero silicone, paraben or dye and leave less residue and suds. The green bottles that hold the products are made of 50% post consumer recycled plastic and even include tips on water conservation and recycling.
Guests of the Cleaner Greener World Tour are also encouraged to join TerraCycle’s Personal Care and Beauty Brigade, a worldwide collective of individuals and groups dedicated to collecting empty packages to send to TerraCycle. Your collection location will be awarded two TerraCycle points for each approved package, which can be redeemed for a variety of charity gifts or for a payment of $0.02 to the non-profit organization or school of your choice.
