I’ve heard so much about Rent the Runway, the website that lets women rent runway looks at a fraction of the price then return it in a pre-paid envelope four days later. I was a bit skeptical about renting dresses or jewelry but then I looked at the concept in a different way: how is it different from borrowing clothing or jewelry from a friend? So this weekend, I decided to use a $200 gift certificated I received to use on the site to rent some jewelry for some of the outfits I will be wearing this weekend.
I ordered the jewelry pieces and picked the duration I would keep them for. Rent the Runway then shipped my pieces, along with return envelopes and ensured that all were delivered this morning. My rental period is between now and October 4, which means I can wear all the pieces for four days and then return it. The pieces arrived in chic black boxes, neatly and individually wrapped in Rent the Runway ribbon. Earrings came with sanitary wipes and a brand new pair of earring backs. The jewelry from Rent the Runway run between $15 and $75, with a lot of high end jewelry designer jewelry being up for rent.
