LOFT Spring/Summer 2011 Collection Preview

October 24, 2010

LOFT unveiled its Spring/Summer 2011 collection with a gorgeous presentation at the New Museum’s Skyroom earlier this month.  Under the helm of creative director Alia Ahmed-Yahia, the brand reinvigorated its identity with a new take on old favorites.  Classic spring trench coats got jazzed up with ruffled collars, silk button down blouses got utilitarian with buttons on the sleeves, cargo skirts and army jackets were feminized with bows and braided belts.

The New Mood for LOFT was about sophistication and romance.  It wouldn’t be Spring without florals, which made an appearance in the collection by way of thigh grazing skirts, cowl neck dresses and ruffled tops. Nautical prints also got recognition in the LOFT S/S 2011 collection in the form of dresses, blouses and blouses. Speaking of jackets, the collection emphasized layering.  Jackets completed many of the looks; from sporty chic orange windbreaker with a ruffled collar to long military jackets cinched at the waist with a belt; and trench coats accented with darker khaki at the hemline and cuffs to cozy cardigans to throw over flouncy tops in the nippy Spring months leading up to Summer.

Overall the LOFT Spring/Summer 2011 collection was a hit. Infusing everyday pieces with romanticism, sophistication and femininity. These pieces are going to be everyday luxuries that women will wear over and over.  The fact that LOFT also has a wider range in sizes makes it an appealing brand for plus size women looking to spruce up their Spring/Summer wardrobe with modern luxury.
