“I think we meant to talk about Fashion’s Night Out,” said Anna Wintour to Jimmy Fallon on her Wednesday night appearance on the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon. The editor-in-chief of American Vogue appeared alongside Marc Jacobs to talk about Fashion’s Night Out, among other things. I stayed up long enough to listen to what Anna had to say about the concept of FNO. Among the topics discussed was the brevity of the September issue of Vogue, which Jimmy Fallon, looking dashing in a Marc Jacobs suit, proclaimed “It’s 4.99 and it weighs six pounds it weighs more per dollar. You’re getting more for your buck.”
“Unfortunately or fortunately, no one can say no to Anna,” said Marc Jacobs referring to his feature in the September issue of Vogue magazine. The Louis Vuitton creative director said he had just had shoulder surgery and was in a sling but answered the call of Anna, leaving behind his morphine drip, to do the shoot. We love Marc for his candidness.
“Anna you’ve broken many designers,” Jimmy joked as he talked about Anna’s influence and power to launch the careers of some of the world’s most renowned designers, including Marc Jacobs. Anna also talked about the consumer fashion show being held at Lincoln Center on September 7th to kick off to FNO. She said, “my biggest nightmare is that it’s not going to start on time,” said Anna, referring to largest public fashion show. Jimmy poked fun at Marc Jacobs for being infamous for starting his shows super late. He has changed – which Anna acknowledged – and now starts his shows early, which usually leaves many editors locked out. We’re hoping Marc keeps starting his shows on time. We also can’t wait for Fashion’s Night Out and the electrically charged New York Fashion Week.
Since watching the show, we’ve been practicing sitting as sophisticated as Anna Wintour, whose neutral heels made her legs look elegant and tall. Taking a page out of one the most influential person in fashion is a definite do and we hope we get to put our practice into use by getting a front row seat to one of the runway shows next week.
