Back to School Chic | L.A. based Poketo Accessories

August 10, 2010

L.A. brand Poketo is taking back to school chic to another level with a collection of accessories.  The design duo behind the brand is husband and wife,  Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung, bring Asian influenced art to life in their new collection, which features totes, messenger bags, laptop cases, umbrellas and more.  The collection launched today at Target stores nationwide and will soon be available at Macy’s department stores.

Pocketo has created commissioned art for museums including the Museum of Contemporary Art Barcelona, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The De Young Museum, and Creative Growth Art Center—and organizations—Nike, Coachella Valley Music Festival—and bands—The Arcade Fire, Weezer, Matisyahu, The Postal Service, and The Shins—to create exclusive products. One of Poketo’s most successful lines, and the building block of its success, includes limited edition, customized-designed wallets that showcase original art.

“Making art that goes beyond the traditional gallery space is exciting to most artists because it has the possibility of reaching the widest audience,” says Angie Myung. “We want art to travel, and we do this through our products, our events, website, and online communities.” Poketo’s “art for your everyday” is available internationally in fine boutiques, museums, and Poketo.com, which houses the entire collection and artist roster, and offers a place for people to connect with the artist community.
