Think Globally, Shop Locally: M29 Lifestyle opens in Georgetown

March 25, 2010

After an amazing spread from the Four Season’s Bourbon Steak restaurant, intern Tory Gagliardi and I ventured over to M29 Lifestyle Boutique-, which is owned by the Four Season’s parent company. With spring fashions in full swing, M29 offers such a diverse variety of designer styles for men, women, and children including: chic slouchy bags by Monserat De Lucca, Sway Jewelry by Vicki Regan Stauber, and clothing from Christopher Fischer and Marika Charles.

M29 Lifestyle boutique offers a little piece of the world right in the 20007 area code.  With a treasure trove of clothing, accessories, toys and electronics from designers that are usually not available in Washington, DC to whet anyone’s appetite, M29 Boutique is on its way to becoming the city’s best kept secret. Looking for that unique gift for the eco-conscious boyfriend? The store carries lightweight compact and foldable bikes by Areaware.  Make a little girl’s birthday more special with cut to order, limited edition dolls by Jess Brown, who has been featured in Vogue, Elle, Cookie, Parenting, and other publications. These hand-dyed creations, stuffed with sustainable corn fiber and made of primarily recycled and antique fabrics and trims, include a ballerina, a circus performer, and even a doll with a travel wardrobe.

Nothing last forever in the fashion world, and the same principle applies to the merchandise at M29 Lifestyle.  Nothing in the store is duplicated. Once the item is sold out, there is no way of getting another one in stock; which makes this store so addictive.  I feel like I have to buy the item right then and there because someone else will probably buy the bag or bracelet I am coveting if I “think about it” and come back another day.  Victoria and I had a field day with the Berryl sunglasses, Chan Lu jewelry, Calypso dresses and so much more.

The store will also showcase pillows, throws, bedding, and even doggie beds by textile designer John Robshaw; Moroccan leather pouf by John Derian; candles and scented soaps by Lucia; an array of cufflinks, collar stays, and watches for men; and lightweight compact and foldable bikes by Areaware. From a hand painted letterpress card for $4 to an irresistibly packaged set of painted enamel hairpins for $11 to a glass decoupage cake stand for $500 to a richly embroidered leather travel bag for $1,500, customers will be able to find the perfect gift or must-have piece.  M29 LIFESTYLE is located on 2900 Pennsylvannia Avenue, NW in Georgetown, a stone throw away from the Four Seasons.
