Donna Karan’s DKNY fall 2010 collection was simply irresistible with a collection so wearable, so durable and youthful that I was transformed back to my days at prep school in Ghana with the brown, beige palette. Inspired by German arts school Bauhaus, Donna Karan turned out color blocked mini dresses and sweaters in with a modern day twists. School girl brogues were transformed into modern day marvels in the form of tasseled platform boots.
Donna Karan never disappoints with her lower priced line I was glad to see the return of oversized blazers and vests, this time with a bit more room than previous seasons. Wool tights in grey as well as ankle socks made an appearance as well. Nothing in the collection was happenstance. Each piece belonged in the cohesive collection. As models walked the runway, you could see Karan’s experience in each details. Brown plaid skirt, cardigan and blazer combo looked effortlessly comfortable just oversized plaid pants.
The accessories were played a good part in the DKNY fall 2010 collection. Newspaper boy hats in unexpected astrakhan, super long scarves and gloves completed the looks. What I love about DKNY is the continuity of her collections. I can mix and match past season’s items from her line with the present season pieces and still look on trend. That is the magic of a true master.
Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP star Keke Palmer and Mad Men actress Alison Brie were also in the front row. These actresses were super sweet. Keke even took the time to do a quick video saying hello to my little cousin Louise, who is a huge fan of hers.
