Shine Fever Capelet adds bling for the holidays

November 30, 2009

As much as I love bling bling, I don’t normally wear a lot of sequins and shiny things. I feel like sparkles and sequins should be left to the contestants in beauty pageants and stage divas. I have been on a sequins kick lately, mostly sticking to headbands, bangles and cuffs. I am not easily swayed into jumping into ’80s style sequins that have been so popular this season. I can’t tell you my exact reasoning but I just think covering my body with bling will only draw attention to areas that I don’t want attention drawn to.

I do love seeing sequins on other people and I’m usually envious of how effortlessly they pull of the look. My style is classically conservative so over the top trends aren’t really my thing. Blame it on the holidays for venturing into the land of sequins. I am in love with this vest and capelet set from Modcloth. It’s just the right amount of bling to go with a black body-con skirt and a white silk tank top with leggings and booties or pumps. The Shine Fever Capelet is on my list of must have items for all the holiday parties. The detachable capelet adds some drama with the ruffled collar. This top is perfect item for any ensemble without breaking the Christmas budget
