Start planning now ladies and gents, for next year’s Fashion’s Night Out. After a widely successful campaign to invigorate fashionistas with a worldwide night out at the shops, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and NYC & Co. announced yesterday that Fashion’s Night Out will return once again to New York City and hopefully worldwide once again next year on September 9, 2010. Get ready for more mayhem, celebrities and fabulous sales at boutiques and department stores nationwide next year. It’s never too late to start planning where you’re going to be on September 9, 2010.

Anna Wintour and team plan on expanding the initiative to more countries where Vogue is published. Kudos to her for pulling off such a big event last year. It is estimated that more than 800 stores stayed opened late. Next year will be even bigger with more celebrities and festivities.

“We were absolutely bowled over by the response to Fashion’s Night out,” said Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. “It was only 15 minutes after the event began and we were getting reports about lines around the block at stores throughout the city. It was wonderful to see people embrace this initiative, and we are thrilled that they wish it to return.” CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg added, “To have designers in stores to celebrate and start a shopping season is the best idea for everybody. It creates excitement and lots of business.”

This is going to be your chance to join in on the fun if you missed it this year. Washington metro area boutiques and department stores opened their doors to fabulous sales, events and more. I am hoping we get some celebrity appearances here next year instead of NYC having all the fun. Where will you be in 09-09-10? Stay tuned for more details or visit the Fashion’s Night Out Website.
