Flirts of Spring

June 7, 2009

As the weather warms up, hems get shorter so what better way to get into the groove than with a floral skirt. A flirty floral skirt that can transition from day to night is a must have for spring and summer. My favorite shape for spring is A-line skirt, which flatters almost every body type. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s rendition of the flirty floral skirt is darling but not too froufrou that it looks childish when worn. The Elizabeth and James Floral Print Skirt, $295 is the basic foundation for an ensemble that can transition from day to night with the addition of a boyfriend blazer. Show off your arms with a Theory ‘Bram’ Top, $65 in a surreal teal color that is perfect for a Saturday out with the boyfriend or the gals. Nothing completes a look better than accessories and nothing says “I’m so chic” better than a long strand of pearls by Mastoloni Extra Long Baroque 6-7mm Pearl Strand, $495. Don’t rely on your cell phone to tell the time. Instead, wear a nice watch, like this MARC BY MARC JACOBS ‘Molly’ Patent Leather Round Dial Watch, $250.

It’s too easy to wear the hair down. I am a big advocate of hair accessories this season. Whether you opt for a pony tail or a cute bun, this Tasha Hydrangea Flower Clip with Austrian Crystals, $38 will vamp up any boring do. Perfectly pulled back hair calls for stunning earrings. These Diana Heimann ‘Gothic’ Earrings, $1,895 are an investment but definitely worth it if you can splurge. If spending almost $2,000 is too much (which to most of us is), you can pick up equally stunning earrings at Forever 21. Finally nothing sexes up the legs better than a fringe platform heel. This one by Steve Madden ‘Rubii‘ Platform Sandal, $109.
