If you love shoes and live in Washington you have probably stepped into Hu’s Shoes on M Street in Georgetown. One of my absolutely favorite shoe boutiques to play and splurge on more contemporary designers like Barbara Bui, Alexander McQueen and Sergio Rossi. Marlene Hu Adalba, the creative genius behind Hu’s Shoes is branching out into clothing with a new shop across the street called Hu’s Wear. I was there on Tuesday for my Washingtonian magazine photo shoot but took the time to peruse the gorgeous frocks, handbags and jewelry she had in store.
This store is the for fashionista with a discerning taste for the classic, contemporary or hard to find pieces. Marlene wants to make Washingtonian women fabulous and fresh, one party frock at a time. There are tons of designers you must get to know. Megan Park, Barbara Bui, Erotokritos, Kaylee Tankus, Veronique Branquinho, Guilty Brotherhood, Mischen and many more.
There’s been a lot of buzz lately about who she is going to pop in her store. We hear there will be designer appearances, private parties and VIP hosting. Did I forget to mention the reserved parking and back entrance just for celebs and Washington’s elite? Oh yea! There’s a grand opening party on Wednesday, April 1. Go check it out.
