I had the privilege of joining Paul Greenhalgh, Director and President of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, along with the Board of Trustees to celebrate and welcome artist and architect Maya Lin on last week. The artist’s work, Maya Lin: Systematic Landscapes, is the newest exhibit at the Corcoran.
During the reception, she talked briefly about the process of putting together little pieces of 2×4 wood together to make one of her largest pieces in the exhibit. I enjoyed seeing her vision of various landscapes come to life in wood and computer generated graphics. The exhibit is very contemporary and edgy, which is exactly how I like my art. The exhibit runs through July 12th.
After the event, we made our way to Cafe Milano in Georgetown for dinner with the artist, who was there with her two adorable daughters India and Rachel.
Here is a little snippet from the reception.
