The Washington Humane Society put on the glitz and glamour at the 7th Annual A Sugar & Champagne Affair hosted by hosted by Todd and Ellen Gray of Equinox restaurant and Salamander Resort: Spa at the Ritz Carlton on Wednesday night.
Washingtonians dressed their four legged friends for treats, pampering, champagne and lots of nibbles to raise money for the Washington Humane Society’s animal rescue programs. I got there just in time to see the Vice President’s motorcade swoosh by as on lookers waived at the black SUVs passing by.
The scene inside the ballroom at the Ritz Carlton could turn the coldest heart into mush. Dog owners and their beloved pets mixed and mingled, took photos and nibbled on tasty treats. I met the most adorable pets including a St. Bernard named Angel who was dressed in a cream faux fur coat and red prom dress with rhinestones. Angel was just eager to pose for the camera. Angel’s entire outfit cost about $115.
