Tatiana Boncompagni Hoover (right) and me and Urban Chic

Last Friday, my dear friend Andrea Rodgers invited me to a book signing for Georgetown University grad Tatiana Boncompagni Hoover’s new book Gilding Lily. Urban Chic, a women’s clothing and accessories store known for their wonderful array of frocks, accessories, shoes and swanky events, hosted the champagne and cupcakes book signing for the New York socialite.

I got a chance to chat with Tatiana about her book, the socialite lifestyle and her perception of Washington, DC now that she’s become a New Yorker. The author talked raved about Washingtonians and how lucky we are to be at the epicenter of change and culture. She also reminisced about her days at Georgetown, although I filled her in on what’s changed, which bars have been replaced and what’s hot right now.

I tried to get her to give me a couple of spoilers from her book, Gilding Lily, but she was hush hush. The book is about small town girl who moves to New York City to start a new life. In the process she meets a very attractive rich guy who completes her thoroughly. She begins navigating the New York social scene and is thrust into the spotlight when she starts writing essays about her coexistence among the snobbish, rich and famous in the Manhattan social scene. This book is a fun afternoon read that will have you laughing at times, gasping at times and cheering at time for the heroine. Click here to buy Gilding Lily now and stay tuned for her next novel, Hedge Fund Wives.
