Photographs and Report by Kara Kirtley
Last Saturday, Glamazon Diaries and friends set up shop outside Rugby Food & Spirits in Georgetown and settled in for a day of refreshments, people watching, friends, and laughter. We knew we were in for a lot of fun- what we didn’t anticipate was sitting front row at the fashion show taking place on Wisconsin Ave. College students, young professionals, even kids in strollers were dressed in the latest fashions. Comfy and casual with a prep edge seem to be the theme for Georgetown weekend amblers, and with all this excitement, we couldn’t help but convince a few of these “Georgetown Models” to pose for our camera.
Corduroy Pants
One of my favorite fall traditions is unpacking my corduroys from the closet year after year. Comfy and chic, cords are a timeless fall and winter staple. Whether you choose to wear subdued grey or a more eye-catching red or green is up to your personal preference and mood. Levis has a great selection of classic cords in different colors that will only set you back $59.50.
Flannel Remix
Flannel shirts are back- but in 2008, we aren’t channeling Nirvana. Flannel’s great for cozying up on these chilly fall weekends, but the key to pulling off the updated look is a touch of polish. Look for fitted shirts (but not too tight unless you are going for the emo rocker look) and make it the focus of your outfit. Pair it with subtle no-fade jeans and sneakers. No undershirt for this low key look, and leave the top few buttons undone. J. Crew carries some of our favorite flannel shirts at www.jcrew.com
Sperry Topsider
Typically your go-to shoe for boating excursions, Sperry Topsider also has a line of fall shoes for land lovers. Pay careful attention and you’ll notice that this longtime comfy favorite frequently adorns the weekend feet of relaxed Georgetowners. Whether you chose the Carson or the Driver, these shoes look great with almost anything and are easy to slip on and off.
GG Note:
The first three pictures are of pedestrians looking fab for a day of shopping and drinks with friends. The last four pictures are of two of my favorite Rugby boutique style stars. Their two uniquely individual styles showcase how one can transform year round pieces like jeans and wellies and Topsiders into Fall pieces.
Other Must Haves:
