Fall’s Monochromatic Trend and How to Achieve It

August 6, 2008

The fall runways was chock full of models in monochromatic ensembles. Designers understand putting a model in a monochromatic outfit makes her look very tall and lean. You, the average woman, can get this look without buying a whole new wardrobe. It’s very easy to pull this look of ‘oneness’ together. Start by choosing a color. I love gray for fall. I think it stands out a bit more than the normal black.

I started off with this simple jersey acetate turtle neck dress from Britt Lintner. The dress is very flattering because the chevron stripes are very slimming and elongating. This dress is versatile and will take you from fall to winter with a few tweaks here and there.

The next step in to achieving this look is to buy opaque tights that match the color of the dress. In this case, I chose Falke’s merino wool blend tights. Falke is my go to brand for fall and winter tights because the quality is unsurpassed and they last.

Prada Suede Shoe Booties, $620

I chose booties for this look because it’s a lot more chic and contemporary. Some might say the black on the boot cuts off the look but I think just a hint of black is alright. The dominant color in this ensemble is gray.

I couldn’t resist adding the Gucci Large Jockey Python Hobo Bag to this outfit. The texture of the bag is so sexy and adds a bit of an edge.
