YSL Going Out In Style

June 11, 2008

The ashes of Yves Saint Laurent’s will be scattered in the garden of his Marrakesh villa today, followed by a ceremony in the Majorelle botanical garden that he and his partner Pieree Berge owned. The African-born designer died June 1 of a brain tumor at the age of 71. He was part of a group of elite designers, including Coco Chanel and Christian Dior, who revolutionized women’s fashion. YSL spent a lot of time in Morocco and was influenced by the styles and culture. “He will stay there in a country that influenced and marked him greatly. He will end up in the Maghreb where he was born.” [Yahoo]
