Shopping & Lunchtails with Mom

June 7, 2008

I can’t believe I’ve been up since 7 a.m. just because we have maintenance crews coming in to fix some water heater in the house. My mom called me early this morning and asked me if I would like to do a little Father’s Day shopping and perhaps some lunchtails in Tyson’s Corner. I can’t pass up such an opportunity for my mom to treat me to shopping and lunch. It’s going to be pretty hot today so anything that I wear today has to be lose fitting and airy.

Polo Ralph Lauren at ShopStyle

I normally wear light clothing on hot days; however, we will be indoors most of the day so I am going to be wearing this Helena Eyelet Dress from Delias. I purchased the dress last week for just $44.50 so I can afford to splurge on accessories. I don’t feel like getting gussied up for the day so I am sticking to the basics. I am slowly adding to my flat shoe collection and this Diane von Furstenberg Dolce Flat is sweet and perfect for an afternoon of walking around town. This shoe has been my go to for the past couple of weeks and I can’t get enough of it. It is so comfortable and goes with almost everything in my closet.

I can’t leave the house without my Tom Ford Eyewear Lauren Retro Sunglasses. I bought shades a couple of months ago at Saks Fifth Avenue but unfortunately they are no longer available for sale. You can get similar shades from Ray Ban or Oliver Peoples. I am skipping on the necklace today because I don’t want too many accessories on my body on a hot humid day. Simple Bird-of-Paradise earrings from Anthropologie and a Coach Bridget Multi-Strand Bracelet are my go to gold accessories so I will be wearing them today. In a perfect world, I would be toting this gorgeous The Ricky Alligator Bag from Ralph Lauren on my arm; however, I am neither rich nor have a fairy god father to buy me such a decadent bag so I will be carrying a bag similar to this from Coach.
