Bloomingdale’s Wins Department Store of the Year

June 4, 2008

Nothing is sweeter than being recognized by your peers as the best in the biz. Bloomingdale’s earned the title of “Department Store of the Year” at the Global Department Store Summit 2008, the first-ever global platform for department stores held in London. A panel of 53 department store chief executives placed nominations for the best department stores in the world and Bloomy’s took the top honors. Bloomy’s came on top in category after category. Among the criteria for nominations were enviable profile through branding, differentiated positioning and powerful messaging, successful developments and executions of product, store and service innovation strategies, delivery of an extraordinary in-store experience, excellent customer service, and strong financial performance.

“We are delighted to receive this award, and I say ‘we’ because it is on behalf of all our associates at every level who have dedicated themselves to excellence, innovation and service,” commented Michael Gould, Bloomingdale’s chairman and chief executive officer. “It is their passion that has been recognized by a worldwide peer group, and that is especially gratifying.”

The award was created to recognize a world-class performer and innovator from the department store industry and clearly, Bloomingdale’s is atop the pack. Congrats and I will be stopping by the Bloomy’s in Tyson’s for a little shopping adventure this weekend.
