Week in Review

May 11, 2008

Every Saturday evening I will giving readers a weekly recap of what I covered on TGD.

This week, we learned that colored denim is back. The inspiration for this piece was style star Rihanna who recently wore yellow colored denim jeans and a silver leopard print Alisha Levin top to an event.

We got some French lessons with luxury handbag designer Lamarthe on how to achieve that je ne sais quoi chicness of French women.

In the Foot Notes section of the blog, I introduced readers to new styles from some of my favorite designers like Giuseppe Zanotti, and gave my pick of Spring’s Must Have Shoes. A reader wrote in to for advice on wearing a White Dress for Graduation. I suggested a Black Halo dress and gold accessories for her special day.

I got a little intimate by giving my Ten Commandments of Lingerie and introducing Victoria’s Secret 100-way Strapless Convertible Bra.

There is always something for everybody at TGD. I had a special treat for the guys by showing them how to dress down with a Comfy Poplin Shirt For Men by Abbie and gave a shout out to Pizzeria Paradiso: Beer Week. I know some of the ladies will be tagging along so I picked an outfit appropriate for beer and pizzas with the guys. Golf aficionados got a treat as well with an introduction to Shi Golf Tee Time Wear and the announcement of the Capital Club of Washington’s First Annual Trey Lefler Memorial Golf Classic Kickoff Party. Although the golf tournament is for members only, the guys would like for everyone to come out to THE SPACE to help celebrate the life and memory of Trey Lefler.

The ladies at We One You Two know what women want. The ladies will be hosting a Sex And The City Party at the boutique on May 15 from 6-9 pm and will be donating 50% of the sale of pink bangles to Susan G. Comen on behalf of The Madison.

I snagged an interview with handbag designer Paolo of Designs by Paolo: “Doctor Bag” Styled Handbags who introduced fashionistas to his beautiful collection of Vintage doctor style handbags and luxury leather accessories. You must go out and pick one up because celebs have been buying these bags like hot cakes. Paolo was even nice enough to offer a $50 discount code to TGD readers.

To top it all off, I showed you the Best Dressed at the 2008 Costume Institute gala. Two former bad girls, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan , made a quick appearance in my blog by capturing the look of the day and a photo shoot for a leggings line (respectively). Read through the blog for the rest of the stories.

Stay tuned for more fashions, celeb news and events this coming week….

Love,
Glamour Girl
P.S. Make sure you buy your tickets for the Fashion Fusion Event at the French Embassy, a fashion show and sample sale to benefit the Washington Area Women’s Foundation.
