The Hills Are Alive

March 24, 2008

The new season of The Hills starts again this week and I must say, I cannot wait to watch the drama unfold between Heidi, Lauren, Audrina and the girls. It seems to me that the show has brought nothing but success to the girls on the show. Just a two months ago, Lauren Conrad launched her clothing line, the Lauren Conrad Collection, and with all the press she has been receiving, her line is going strong. She even had a show during LA Fashion Week. Well not to be upstaged, Lauren’s ex BFF Heidi Montag announced the launch of her own clothing line called Heidiwood that will hit Ancho Blue stores nationwide in April. Like LC, Heidi’s line includes tops, jeans, dresses, bags and jewelry except the price tag will be less than LC’s at less than $60. It seems like the Chanel clad Heidi is trying to bring her everyday woman style to the masses with her collection.

US Magazine quoted Heidi bashing Lauren’s line. “Lauren’s line is not necessarily something I would wear,” Montag tells Us.”She’s trying a high-fashion thing, but it’s a little overpriced,” Montag adds. “Mine is fun and flirty for the everyday woman. Most people can’t afford $200 for one dress.”Montag also insists she’s a more legit fashionista than her former fashion-school classmate.”When we were in school, I was the designer, and she was in, like, product development,” she snipes.

Ouch! We’ll see if Heidiwood can cut it in the fashion biz. But I do like the concept of making cute clothes affordable for the everyday woman.

A few pieces from Heidi’s Heidiwood collection. I love the bags and the dresses.
Lauren’s line is chic. I know it costs a little bit more but I can see myself wearing this line a lot more. I guess my style isn’t as flashy as the Heidiwood line; however, both collection have hits and misses.

Not to be upstaged, Lauren’s Elle buddy Whitney Port will be launching her own clothing line called Eve & A this fall. The 15-piece collection will consist of convertible dresses, tops and jackets that will wholesale for $40 to $250. Bring it on ladies…we are all waiting. So which Hills star do you think will bring more bang for the buck? You be the judge.
