BEAUTY CORNER Beauty Innovations — 15 August 2012

Singing sensation Janelle Monae has been named as the newest brand ambasador for CoverGirl, joining Queen Latifah and Paula Patton as three African American faces of the beauty brand.  Ms. Monae tweeted her excitement yesterday, saying “I’m strong. I’m beautiful. I AM A COVERGIRL!!!!”

Covergirl released a behind the scenes video of the singer and her band during her photoshoot.  She keeps her signature pompadour and her black and white ensemble including those oxford brogues.  Ms. Monae uses makeup to add splashes of color to her black and white wardrobe, often making a bright red or pink lip the focal point of her face.  She has been experimenting with Covergirl products like Lash Blast mascara and Lip Perfection lipsticks on stage.

Ms. Monae will make her debut as a COVERGIRL in the September issue of Vogue magazine as part of a 10-page COVERGIRL cosmetics ad campaign.
