With the Olympics being held in London this year comes a slew of festivities and collaborations. One I’m especially excited about is the auction of four one-of-a-kind Hermès handbags being auctioned off in May to benefit London’s Royal Academy of Arts. The French brand has redesigned four of its Passe-Guide bags to represent England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales to celebrate the London exhibit, “Leather Forever.”
According to Women’s Wear Daily,
The English bag is fashioned from red box calfskin with silver fittings and sports a black fur charm, in tribute to the bearskin hats that the Queen’s Guards wear. Meanwhile, the Scottish bag is done in an orange tartan created by the weavers Johnstons of Elgin, while the Irish bag is crafted in a green crocodile skin with a four-leaf clover charm. The Welsh design is done in dark green box calfskin with a Welsh dragon charm.
The bags will be auctioned off online by Christie’s from May 14th to May 31.
