DC Scene THE SCENE — 02 November 2010

Last week, I had the chance to attend fashion:district Fall/Winter 2010, a winter fashion show put on by Ready Set DC at the Stroga studio in Adams Morgan. As I was used to seeing Stroga full of sweat-drenched and toned men and women in Lululemon (it normally serves as a strength training and yoga studio), it was quite a pleasant surprise to find the venue brimming with DC’s finest clad specimens, with not a drop of perspiration in sight.

Guests sipped Peroni beer and Chairman’s Reserve rum and champagne while local designers, including ARTAYA, De*Nada Design, Derringer Friday, Durkl, Ginger Root Design, Mercedes Bien Vintage, Rue 14, and others , showed off items from their most recent collections in an energetic and eclectic runway format. Music was provided by DC favorites Bluebrain and Matthew Hemerlein.

Patrons walked away considerably tipsier and with giftbag swag from the presenters and other area designers and shops.
