Prada is solidifying its relationship with the silver screen by using Oscar Winner Christoph Waltz for its men’s wear fall/winter campaign. The actor is joined by British actor Ben Whishaw also known as Q in the James Bond movie Skyfall and there is the American star Ezra Miller who partnered with Emma Watson in The Perks of Being . Prada created a 1960s New Wave Cinema setting allowing Christoph to look perfectly styled in a red colored shirt under a camel sweater while in a checked suit. It’s the perfect touch for this Django Unchained actor. Prada chose Christoph Waltz to introduce part of their collection from his individual style.
We have seen the impact that celebrities have on magazine covers due to the increase newsstand sales. But now this is picking up even more as it relates to fashion brands choosing celebrities to help push their brand into the market. A perfect example of this is the Dior runway commercial with Charlize Theron which is most likely implanted into your brain by now.
This is a strategic move for Prada as they tell a story in this fall/winter collection which can very well lead them to designing looks for future movies. The label chose photographer David Sims to shoot the three men in a minimal setting highlighting geometric furniture designed by OMA for Knoll. This is the first of the campaign and already we are wanting to see more out of these three gentlemen.
