Beyonce joined Salma Hayek, Halle Berry and many more of Hollywood’s most powerful women to promote Gucci’s newest philanthropic venture, Chime for Change. Hayek’s husband, Francois Henri Pinault, owner of Gucci’s parent company PPR, recruited the leading ladies to work on the project, designed to promote, support, and inspire strength in women and girls around the world.
“Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be,” Beyonce told Vogue UK. It’s up to us to change the statistics for women around the world. I’m honored to be in the company of women who live fearlessly and set an example for the next generation of young ladies.”
Other celebrities on the advisory board include Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Jada Pinkett-Smith. The first campaign video for the project, featuring Hayek, Beyonce, and Gucci creative director Frida Gianinni, was released over the weekend and can be viewed below.
