[Ode to America] DKNY Spring 2012

December 29, 2011

I can’t get enough of DKNY and its effortless New York Style.  For spring/summer 2012, the sister brand of Donna Karan paid tribute to the tenth anniversary and “the courage, the inspiration, the compassion” of New Yorkers in its runway show, which was held on September 11th.   Channeling its quintessentially New York aesthetic was a yellow taxi, serving as a backdrop as models walked through the Chelsea warehouse.

Coming down the concrete runway were flouncy and flowing frocks, non-fussy blazers and tapered pants and floral motifs in the red, white and blue color scheme.  The underpinning of the DKNY spring/summer show was Americana at its best.  Were it not for the confined space and the slew of editors, celebrities and bloggers in the crowd, the models could have been any of the stylish New York women, dressed in vertiginous wedges, busy conquering the concrete jungles of Manhattan.   Kudos to Donna Karan and her team bringing in flouncy and floppy hats, which went with everything in the collection.
