Herringbone West Opening

There’s a new resto in Los Angeles and it’s got pedigree.  Executive Chef Brian Malarkey and James Brennan of Enlightened Hostpitality Group, the brains behind the successful Seersucker, Stingaree, Green Acre restaurants and lounge have just opened a second Herringbone – the first one is in La Jolla –  Herringbone West, at the Mondrian Hotel in on the Sunset Strip.

On Thursday, Malarkey and Brennan feted the Herringbone West – heralded as a “Fish Meats Field” restaurant – with an exclusive party attended by celebs, editors and socialites.  Guests got a taste of Herringbone with sampling from the menu, which included seared diver scallops with crispy sweetbreads, carne asada fries ’SD in LA’, hamachi crudo and shrimp and grits.
Celebs in attendance included singer/songwriter Leona Lewis, actress Mena Suvari, actress Terri Seymour, Carrie Diaries star Chloe Bridges, Arrow and True Blood star Kevin Alejandro, Girls and Carrie Diaries star Chris Wood and Twilight star Rachel Lefevre.

Herringbone West, like it’s sister resto, serves line-caught seafood and quality meat – signature cold starters like Hamachi, Grapes, Lardo & Chili or Whole Fish Ceviche, shareable dishes like like the Arancini “Risotto Balls”,  hot crust with Sausage, Tomato, Castlevetrano Olives and Mozzarella are must eats.  And who can resist the classic lobster macaroni & cheese, a decadent medley with St.Andre Brie Mornay, Cavatelli, Piquillo Peppers, Confit Onions?

If it’s lighter fare you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with the Wood Oven Roasted Whole Fish with citrus brown butter.  Meat lovers can sink their teeth into the Blue Cheese Crusted 10oz New York Strip with peppercorn pan sauce, sunchoke and marble potato hash or the Pan Seared Maple Leaf Duck Breast with Hazelnut Polenta, Crispy Pancetta, Wilted Beet Greens & Duck Pan Sauce.

Herringbone West has an impressive cocktail menu thanks to Pick & Rocks Cocktail Company, which created alluring cocktails using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients.  The Peter Rabbit is a Pimm’s Cup reinvented with Pimm’s #1, Bruised Basil, Pressed Lemon, & Pickled Carrot; the Skinny Jenny will appeal to those looking to save a few calories; traditionalists will appreciate the Rogue Manhattan, made with Russel’s Reserve Bourbon, Italian liqueur, cherry & orange.  There is an Oyster Hour Monday through Friday from 4pm – 6pm with $1 oysters and drink specials starting at $5.

Herringbone West serves lunch, brunch (bottomless mimosas anyone?) and dinner Monday – Sunday.
