FASHION WEEK NEW YORK — 18 June 2013

RebeccaMinkoff_003_1366.450x675At the Resort 2014 Collection Preview, designer Rebecca Minkoff explained that she wanted this collection to channel the early 1980s, a time when music had “changed the cultural climate from punk to pop.” Minkoff’s Collection is her own spin on the punk-princess style worn by many in the 80s.

Perhaps influenced by the current Met exhibit Punk: Chaos To Couture, pieces in the collection include heavy hardware such as safety pin detail t-shirts and pink stovepipes with slashed zippers running up each leg balance out the collection with more girly pieces like floral track pants, chiffon maxi’s, and prints including tiger stripes and birds of paradise.
