BEAUTY CORNER Scentsational — 12 August 2012

Lebanese designer Reem Acra’s red carpet gowns have been worn by celebs like Amanda Seyfried, Nicole Ritchie, Kristen Stewart, Viola Davis, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Williams  and Jennifer Hudson, and though we can only dream of donning one of these elegant $3,000 and over gowns, we now have the second best thing, an eponymous scent from the designer.

Acra, now based in New York, says her new scent tells the story of her brand and her life incorporating things she treasures into the fragrance formulation.  The Reem Acra Eau de Parfum includes notes of orange blossom, pear, bergamot, ginger, jasmine, lily of the valley, peony, amber, cedarwood, patchouli, and warm musk.

”It’s my life story. Amber has been part of my homes since I was a little kid — we used to collect it [in Lebanon.] Peonies are my favorite flower,” she told WWD. “And every morning I drink orange blossom, steeped in hot water, to relax.”

The eaux de parfum will come in three sizes — 30 ml. for $35, 50 ml. for $90 and 90 ml. for $125.  Along with the fragrance will be ancillary products including a 200-ml. perfumed body lotion, $50; a 200-ml. bath and shower gel, $40, and a 5.1-oz. body cream, $75. Come December, a 90-ml. limited-edition parfum, $300, will be offered, as will a $125 gift set.

Model Crysal Renn has been tapped for the advertising campaign, which will debut in fashion books this October.  The Tom Munro lensed ads feature the brunette model in a flowy red frock from the designer’s Resort 2013 collection.
