Word got around earlier this year that Michelle Obama favorite, Jason Wu would be creating a contemporary collection targeted towards a younger consumer. That day, my friends, has finally arrived. Images from the first collection of Wu’s Miss Wuline have been unveiled, and it shows a different side of the designer. This line is more downtown, slightly cooler and inspired by the Sixties. Think of Jane Birkin and Marianne Faithful as muses forMiss Wuspring 2013, a 40-piece collection featuring prints, textured shifts and A-line dresses, striped tops and floral skirts. There’s even a lovely trench with a big bow on the back.
So how much will you be shelling out for one of the pieces from the Miss Wu line? A cool $195 for a sleeveless silk bow blouse to $795 for a black leather jacket. Still not chump change but the price is much palatable than Wu’s higher end line, which has individual pieces averaging at $1,700.
For the first year, Miss Wu will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom’s Via C department in 49 stores as well as nordstrom.com, for those who can’t make it to the store. After that, the collection will be available in specialty and department stores globally. Get excited! Get VERY excited!
