Elie Saab Makes Cornrows Couture for Fall Couture 2012

July 6, 2012

Cornrows are back in style this fall as they took over the Elie Saab Fall Couture 2012 runway.  We all know braids are trending right now with high end salons offering different designs that cost $45 and up.  Who knew Paris would see them paired with couture gowns?

Hair stylist Orlando Pita took on the task of making the urban cornrow couture.  He parted models hair in half from the crown to the nap and braided two separate cornrows.  He then added an extra piece of braided hair to create a chic bun at the nape.  The braids I wore as a youth is hotter than ever as an evening do.  I will definitely be heading to my stylist to get this look for a red carpet event.

As for makeup, artist Val Garland gave models flushed cheeks using MAC Cosmetics’s Pink Shock Color cream base.  For the eyes, she used a black eyeliner to line the lids, using a slight flick to elongate the line at the corner of the eye.

“So it’s about an elongated eyeliner on the eye, a rush of flush – but a gentle rush of flush – on the cheeks and really soft, petal-pink lips,” she said.
