Remember how popular the Louis Vuitton collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami was back in 2008? I was obsessed with the ‘Monogramouflage’ Lys bag, which I could not afford at the time. Read post here: http://bit.ly/JYty6C. Well Louis Vuitton is at it again with another fun collaboration with another Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama.
The Louis Vuitton ‘Infinity Kusama’ collection features various leather accessories, jewelry, ready-to-wear, shoes and sunglasses in playful polka dot prints reminiscent of the H&M x Comme des Garcons from 2008.
Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs said of Kusama’s work:
“The obsessive character and the innocence of her artwork touched me. She succeeds in sharing her vision of the world with us.”
The first rollout of the collection hits stores July 10th, two days before Kusama’s retrospective opens at the Whitney Museum. A second rollout of items from the collaboration will be available in Louis Vuitton stores globally in October.
