Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn actress Ashley Green is trying not to be defined by her role as Alice Cullen in the widely successful vampire franchise. The 25 year-old starlet, along with her co-stars, will wrap up the movie series this November with the final Breaking Dawn movie, expected to gross well over $100 million dollars; but she has already started making a name for herself in Hollywood. The brunette beauty covers the March 2012 issue of Lucky Magazine and talks about Twilight, her new role in the quirky movie Butter, moving on from the role that defined her career thus far and her style.
Greene also stars in a beautifully shot editorial by Ruven Afanador. In it, she wears DKNY, which she is a brand ambassador for, and other brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Jill Stuart, L’Wren Scott, Thakoon, and Bulgari. Greene, wearing a strapless yellow L’Wren Scott frock on the cover, says she never would have picked that particular color but was surprised how the dress complimented her complexion. She also wears some floral frocks, showing us how to wear of spring’s must try trends.
On Twilight ending: “I won’t lie, there are times when I’m like, ‘Why is this so hard?’ You come off a high like Twilight and then you get dropped back down to reality. “Twilight has given me something to skyrocket off of, But now that it’s ending, there’s so much work to be done. And if I don’t do it, then Twilight’s all I’m ever going to be known for, as great as it is.”
On competing for Hollywood roles: “Basically I went from ‘dying to get a gig’ to ‘dying to get the gig that everyone wants,’ ” she says. “So now I’m in this realm with a lot of highly respected actresses, which is an amazing place to be, but also kind of terrifying.”
On kissing Olivia Wilde in Butter: “It wasn’t that awkward,” Greene says about the makeout session. “It’s the same idea when you’re having to kiss a male costar and it’s not real. Olivia is such a cool chick and very professional. So we were just messing around and cracking up in between scenes, and it ended up being really fun.” She smiles. “And now I’m the envy of every straight male everywhere!”
On her ideal guy: “What’s most attractive to me is someone who has the same amount of drive as I do, someone who’s equally passionate about what they do, and equally busy,” she says. “But I think that would be a tall order.”
