FASHION Get the Look — 19 July 2011

My girlfriends can attest to the pure and simple truth that I am head over heels in love with Phantom of the Opera, both the musical and the movie.  I fell in love with the costumes donned by Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum in the movie, particularly the capes.  Nothing says romance and allure than a beautiful cape worn by a woman, especially when it’s over a gown.  Jackie O wore it proudly during her White House days and I’ve been advocating a comeback of this vintage staple.

I spotted a short cape go down the runway of the DKNY Fall 2011 show back in February and immediately fell head over heels in love with it.  The well tailored and structured color block coat with a notch collar is currently available on the label’s website and it has officially made it onto the Glamazon Fall Must Have List.  The DKNY cape is modern and sleek, borrowing from the men wit its tuxedo jacket notch collar detail and suit pockets. It’s got one button in the center for those nippy Fall evenings.  How posh would a midi cream midi dress, paired with opaque tights and Valentino or Pour la Victoire pumps look with this? Absolutely stunning!
