The dashing British sensation Robert Pattinson and his leading lady of the moment, Reese Witherspoon dazzled on the red carpet this evening at the premiere of their new movie Water for Elephants.  Hundreds of Pattinson’s fans gathered at the Ziegfeld Theatre to snap photos and catch a glimpse of him.  The newly married Reese Witherspoon, looking radiant in a cream Jason Wu frock mingled with the crowd and walked the red carpet.

Rob Pattison, in a grey suit, brought his mom and sister to the premiere, instead of his main squeeze and fellow Twilight cast member Kristen Stewart.  A move we thoroughly applaud because the night belonged to him and Reese.  Kristen is in town however to support her man.  Her makeup artist, Beau Nelson, tweeted, “Just did Kristen Stewart for the Water For Elephants Premier. She looks stunning in J. Mendel with a dark burgundy lip!”  Rob took his time to walk the carpet, taking photos with fans and signing autographs.

Water for Elephants, which also stars Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz, is based on Sara Gruen’s novel of the same name.  It is a story of  veterinary student, Jacob Jankowski, who abandons his studies at Cornell University  after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet during the Great Depression era.  He later falls in love with Marlena (Witherspoon), the wife of the head animal trainer (Waltz). The film opens in theaters this Friday.
