Style Files Washington Events — 06 April 2009

Glamazon Diaries fan Jessica Andrews, a former Washington Redskins Ambassador invited me to watch the final auditions for the 2009-2010 Washington Redskins Cheerleaders at Bethesda Theater last night. It was definitely a site to see. Over 100 guests – friends, family and fans – packed the small theater to watch the 55 girls audition for 46 slots (43 plus 3 alternates).

The girls opened up with cocktail wear then transitioned into their dance outfits to wow the crowd with their learned routines. After seven days of grueling training, most of the girls nailed their routines. They then got into bikinis and strutted on stage holding footballs. All I have to say is that they were all had confidence to rock a bikini and looked fabulous doing it. Among my faves were Kelly, Jamilla and Dawn, who all made the team.

Here are two videos from two routines.

My favorite routine was a lyrical piece performed to Beyonce’s single “Halo.” The girl on the left was among my favorites but unfortunately she didn’t make the team. She was excellent though. I give all the girls major kudos for owning that stage.

This video is faster tempo song. The girl in the front is one of the Captains this year. Hail to the Redskins!

  1. It’s sad that they don’t bring on more new talent and fresh faces. It’s very clickish and a lot of the veterans were very nasty during prep classes. It’s obvious that their were some girls who should have been picked but weren’t. The majority of the same girls made the squad once again. Very clickish, By far Kelly definetly does not deserve to be on the squad. You have a few that look manly.

  2. I second that! They always announce that the veterans will be “fighting” for their spot back when really they get a free pass all the way up to finals. And are pretty much guaranteed their spot back as long as they didnt do something to mess up in the prior season. With the new “talent” it’s amazing that some girls even made it to semi finals! A few didnt have a clue about the routines or have any stage presence but they made the team?! There were others that were cut that CLEARLY should have made it. But maybe their boobs werent big enough or they didnt have the right connections to get on the team like other girls. It’s all politics. It’s about who you know, what race you are (cause they have to fill certain quotas to build the “right” looking team) and how hot of a body you have. Cause some of the girls that arent lookers are the ones that are friends with those in charge. And ones with hot bodies and no dance skills are the ones management chooses because, well, they’re men and like hot girls and could care less about anything else. I was so so disappointed and shocked watching finals and seeing some of the girls that were picked that did NOT deserve it. And it’s heartbreaking to watch others girls that looked and did amazing be passed up unfairly. This team is unlike any other NFL team and the so-called audition process is a joke!

  3. so complainers, what’s a better method, of course its alot of politics, everything in this world is! Get real! And why shouldn’t veterans, get priority, thats how anyting works!

  4. If each girl is honestly judged and given scores throughout the audition process, why dont they give those score sheets to the girls at the end of the process? That way they can see what they did great on and what needs improvement? And if veterans get priority on certain things thats one thing but they shouldnt be automatically ranked higher just cause they’ve been on the team longer. Otherwise let the “rookies to be” know ahead of time that there are really only 10 spots available and not 40.

  5. I suggest you all take a long, hard look at ANY professional sport or dance program and stop whining because you or your friend didn’t make the final cut. The Redskins are not unlike any other team in the NFL or NBA. Have you not watched the Dallas Cowboys auditions on CMT? This is a PROFESSIONAL team, not a middle school squad. Do NFL players share playing minutes because it’s fair? NO! Do you think they get notes from coaches when they get cut or traded? NO! Do veterans get to pass through certain rounds? YES! They’ve earned that right! Does that mean they automatically make the squad? NO! One veteran was cut from the squad and another placed as an alternate. This was a good year. In the past up to 10 vets have been cut to allow room for rookies. I know ignorance is bliss for some people, but really you should research a little before making stupid comments on a blog about something you don’t have a CLUE about.

  6. Are you serious….Their was a Dallas Cowgirls Cheerleader who auditioned and a Wizards Cheerleader/Dancer who auditioned, what was the excuse for not choosing them. They are both professionals and more than likely well rounded and deserved to be on the team. For them to be even considered to be an ambassador is an insult!!!! These women are professional dancers. By far Dallas Cowgirls are the VERY BEST in the league. The Redskins had the girls pay fees for prep classes to only be snubbed by the veterans who were nasty and unfriendly. The sideline and prep classes were scams….out of 350 women only 1 vet got cut…..yeah that’s fair. The heck with research….check the FACTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. TO ALL OF YOU HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SORRY YOU DIDN’T MAKE THE SQUAD!!!!! GET OVER IT!!!!!!! THE REDSKINS CHEERLEADING SQUAD ROCKS AND OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE NOT WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR THIS YEAR AND HOPEFULLY NEVER WITH THAT ATTITUDE!

  8. I agree……..haters. Why be pressed to earn a 100 per game, why be pressed to get a set of nose bleed tickets to each game that you work. Why be pressed to walk around in a bra and underwear and degrade yourself. Why look like a brainless piece of meat in front of men when you can be sexy, well educated and beautiful fully clothed and unclothed when need be behind closed doors. Why would you want to look like you’re in drag or a plastic doll, with all of the layers of hair extensions, fake lashes, layers of make-up when you can be naturally beautiful? When you take the make-up off of the clowns, remove the hair weaves and fake lashes they look horrible….yeah….haters! The haters have real careers not the bogus bullcrap that the first ladies of football claim they have. Yeah they have jobs alright. Sounds like insecurity to me….anything for attention. I agree with the Giants organization ( they don’t have cheerleaders ) and don’t need them.

  9. Sorry some of you feel the way you feel but it couldn’t have been all that bad. Check out this link….
    http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/For_New_Cheerleader_Ashley__Auditions_Were_Unforgettable_33492.jsp

  10. I enjoyed the show, my friend didn’t make it, but everything seemed fair. Rejection is always hard. I just viewed a couple of the vets pictures…their are a few who aren’t attractive but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be their just becuase their ugly.

  11. Hello,
Have they selected their ambassadors yet?
Does everyone get a fair shot at it or how do they pick their ambassadors? Do they go back to everyones application??? Plus what do the ambassadors do?

  12. The Washington Redskins Cheerleader Ambassadors consist of ladies from all over the country and are an extension of the Redskins Cheerleaders.

Selected during the Redskins Cheerleaders auditions process every April, the Ambassadors’ main focus is interacting with fans during all Redskins home games at FedExField.

While the Redskins Cheerleaders captivate the 90,000+ fans with energetic dance routines, the Ambassadors are in the Tailgate Club, Touchdown Club and Suites–and even in the stands–bringing a personal, up-close interaction with fans.

  13. I read the link pasted above….of coarse that a one-sided opinion from a cheerleader that was chosen, it’s all politics. It’s about who you know, what race you are (cause they have to fill certain quotas to build the “right” looking team) and how hot of a body you have. Cause some of the girls that arent lookers are the ones that are friends with those in charge. And ones with hot bodies and no dance skills are the ones management chooses.

  14. Did Ashley get an incentive for the making those comments? It’s funny how she’s saying the exact opposite of what MANY bloggers have said on this site. The vets were very nasty but you guys prepped Ashley very well….again politics. clickish…i actually feel sorry for the women who auditioned and the ones who are waiting to hear if they made it as an ambassadors. Good Luck for those of you who are waiting. that non dancing group may not have a fair chance either. they may pick all the vets and the ones who didn’t make it as cheerleaders.

  15. Have ambassadors already been selescted? I heard its a rip off because they have ambassador only try outs but then they only pick finalists if you know more write and explain how they pick their ambassadors

  16. DO they actually pick any of the girls who auditioned for the ambassadors? Do they look at the application? Because, auditions for ambassadors were two weeks ago so how do they pick those girls if they auditioned such a long time ago. Is this all crap just to get ambassador money and never pick any of those who auditioned to become and ambassador? Someone needs to answer…

  17. They dont finalize the ambassador selection until after the finals for cheerleaders. you can basically audition for both at the same time, so those that made it to finals to be a cheerleader could still be ambassadors if they didn’t make the cheerleading team. they do look at the applications because a friend of mine didn’t make the final cut but was still offered an ambassador spot. they can’t extend ambassador offers until finals are over because they dont know what people will make the team and who wont.

  18. Well, they already had the final cuts right?
So have they started to call people?
What do they look for in the application any idea? Beacause, people who auditioned to be an ambassador was over 2 weeks ago so how will they remember those people? You said your friend got offered to be an ambassador so they already made offers?

  19. Great Article!

I always had to deal with ladies that weren’t able to make the squad and talked so much crap and liked to spread negative comments about the current Redskins Cheerleaders. Being the person who created the current Cheerleaders, I can tell you that they are outstanding examples of the best that the NFL has to offer. They made the squad because they are truly the 40 best. It’s funny how many women who get cut talk so much negativity afterwards…do you do that on job interviews? Through all the years I did the auditions, I honestly could have just walked into a room and picked who I wanted as they do on many modeling calls and never have given anyone the chance to dance. I never did that! Auditioning for something always has a risk involved and it takes a lot of courage to even show up. Sometimes when you are negative about many things, bad things seem to happen to you. tSuch as getting cut from the Redskins Cheerleaders! Take a step back and realize that it’s not meant to be and move on. Stop hating on those that are in a place that you wish you were. Not being a part of the program anymore and going to the finals I was able to see how truly outstanding the talent was and I am so proud that they still carry on the tradition to be the best in Pro Sports. After 16 years of being a part of pro teams I am now free to say what I want. So all you haters KISS MY ASS and get a LIFE.
    Cheers,
    Donald Wells – Director from 1997 – 2009

  20. I guess their is a reason that you aren’t with the organization anymore….oh by the way your boyfriend would be the one to kiss your ass…not any of the female bloggers precious…

  21. DONALD,

Can you exaplin the ambassador selection process. Beacause, Ambassador auditions were 2 weeks ago, so how do they remember who the girls were who only auditioned for ambassador? Do you guys look back at their application or do you guys not even consider those girls?
    Can you explain a little?

  22. Ya’ll are funny as hell. Yes, I tried out, and no I didn’t make it. Probably because I’m a non-dancing fat ass, but hey, that besides the point. The first time I tried out, long ago and far away, I remember going to a prep class and Donald himself saying “it’s a beauty contest with dance. If you have the look, they can teach you to dance”. What they don’t specifically say is they are looking for a specific look, sort of like affirmative action. An Asian left, a new Asian was selected. An African American was cut, an African American was selected.

All of this is to say don’t be mad you didn’t make the squad. Congratulate the people that did because they were what the organization was looking for. Donald did a fantastic job when he compared the process to a job interview. You might have someone come in who is MORE then qualified, but not get the position over a person who interviews better. What do you do? You make yourself a better canidate, and pay attention to the climate.

The current squad isn’t clickish, they know each other. Duh, why wouldn’t they stick together? They’re not ugly or manish. If they were, they wouldn’t have the following they have.

On to the ambassadors, they have already started selecting… Ladies that made the finals are already being called. My guess… I hope you submitted a flattering picture, because that’s probably what they are going to go off. They probably made notes during the tryouts about whether you sucked or not and will use those notes along with your pics to make their decisions.

As for me, Yes, I’ll probably try out again. I’ll get a trainer and start private dance lessons now. I’ll spend another $500 on a sexy weave and another $100 on a newer, more scandalous costume. I’ll probably bedazzle till my fingers fall off and starve myself to make sure my body is killer. I’ll look to see who’s leaving the team to see if I may actually have a shot at making it. Then I’ll pray. Cast spells, conjure, meditate, whatever…

If I make the team, I’ll be excited about the experience. If I don’t, I won’t mess up my flawless makeup by crying. Diva’s don’t do that! I won’t hate on the people that did make the squad, because they are probably just as insecure as I am and the LAST thing they need is somebody tearing them down because they are envious. I’ll continue working on my PhD, or JD, or what ever degree I decide to pursue. I’ll go back to my $100k+ job with my 30lbs of fake hair held high and know that WRC does not define me. I define me.

Congratulations ladies, I’ll see you at tryouts next year.

  23. So for the 2009 they already picked their ambassadors? When do/did they start making those calls?
What type of submitted pictures do they like for ambassadors? because everyone mentions it better be a “DAMN GOOD” picture, what does that mean?

  24. Seriously, get over the ambassador thing. If you applied and have not gotten a call, you probably didn’t make it… move on! if you have questions about the process then attend the prep classes and/or the seminar they offer a few weeks before tryouts.

I agree 100% with whoever posted the long blog just before this. I to have tried out and didn’t make it… but that’s life. There are 300 people going for 40 spots… and with the vets its more like 10-15 spots depending on the year… so do some research before you go in there thinking that its going to be a cake walk… its anything but! Auditions are a far cry from your middle school tryouts when you were up against kids from your neighborhood. girls travel thousands of miles just to audition…so I suggest that you get over the fact that you didn’t make it this year and prepare better for next… you have 12 months to get ready.

The ladies that did make the team are awesome! They deserve it! Congratulations!

Hail to Redskins and the Redskins Cheerleaders!

  25. Exactly, move on, find closure and step up your game for next year. Congratulations to ALL who made the 09 squad both Cheerleaders and Ambassadors.

  26. Tooo Bad, They have not yet announced the ambassadors yet. So you two need to get a life… They will not do call backs till the 14th. And where the hell did you two get your information from?

  27. Most of you probably don’t know the politics that are involved within the NFL. You have stock holders, you have board of directors, you have people high up that all have a sister, cousin, neice, friend, that want to be an NFL cheerleader. Coming from an NFL team on the east coast (No, NOT the Redskins!) I know personally that some girls will get on teams because of who they know and others will have made it on their own talent and beauty. Thats life! If organizations told you that from the beginning then they would be loosing a ton of money that girls shell out for prep classes and audition fees. Your talking $20 – $40 per girl per class! In the end thats a lot of money they would be loosing.

And for whomever posted the comment about girls receiving their “score” sheets – in some NFL auditions they dont actually “score” you on a point scale in categories. Some auditions will have judges just write a yes or a no by your name and tally up the Yes’s. So i doubt you would want an entire sheet with Y’s or N’s.

So for everyone complaining about getting cut maybe you should work harder next year – get a fabulous body – pray that a lot more veterans decide to leave and know that determination and drive can show a director your dedication.

  28. Actually I auditioned to be a cheerleader and I didn’t make it. I got cutt the first round, but I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL TO BE INTERVIEWED for an AMBASSADOR slot. I received a CALL yesterday. So they have made the calls backs.
Find closure and congratts to all who made the team….cheerleaders and ambassadors!!!!!

  29. Really? and you got cut first rounds?
what type of picture did u submit? was it ur first time trying out?

  30. Well I auditoned a few years back and didn’t make it, nor did I come even close. I submitted a professional picture that I had taken.

  31. Holy heck there are some haters out there. For those of you spewing venom, I truly feel sorry for you because living life tearing people who you don’t know or know anything about down, must be exhausting. The women you are lashing out at are beautiful (on the INSIDE and out), smart, loving and giving. They are kind to one another and every girl that walks into that studio. No, maybe they didn’t spark a long conversation with you during prep classes, but that’s because they are nervous too…ever think about that??? I am telling you with 100% knowledge that everyone of them has TO FIGHT FOR THEIR SPOT BACK. All of you talking about Vets having priority or the organization picking the team really have no idea about anything. One year eight veterans got cut. Pretty much blows your theory about vets having a secured spot. And yes, looks matter…it’s part of the job profile. You don’t like it, DON’T AUDITION! But dancing matters too. The WRC have been named by ESPN for several years as one of the best teams in the NFL. That isn’t because the girls just sit on the sidelines looking fabulous (AND YES, EVERYONE OF THEM DO). It’s because they are trained throughout the season by the best choreographs and directors to be the best dancers in the NFL (and yes, they have been recognized). And if you don’t have the raw dance ability during auditions, you won’t make it. And for those of you saying, “well pretty girls that can’t dance made it”…yes because they saw something mold-able in them. Look at that same pretty girl end of season and you’d be surprise–she would be a true dancer. Please don’t tell me you think you can find talent better than the directors and choreographers who have been in the industry for decades and are the final decision makers. Conversely, LOTS of pretty girls didn’t make it, because they didn’t have the other piece of it…dancing. No one is lying about whats important–looks and dance–so if you don’t like the criteria, don’t set yourself up and then complain about it.

And p.s. anyone who talks shit about any of the girls on the team, Donald or the directors, feel free to call me so I can properly tell you how pathetically wrong you are (202.5605295). You would only be so lucky to learn how kind and caring these people are TOO EVERYONE. Haters, you are out of your league and have NO idea what you are talking about.

  32. The person above who wrote their number is FULL OF CRAP and why the heck would you post your phone number…

The program is bullshit, they say call backs will be the 14th and they make girls wait at the edge of their seats when they are lieing and they already made call backs…

Also, what the heck is the point that they advertise for girls who only want to audition for ambassadors and they never pick from that bunch even if they have years and years of dance experience… Its bullshit they never pick from the girls who only audition for ambassadors they only want their damn MONEY.. I saw sooo MANY gorgeous girls who only auditioned for ambassadors and none of them got a call back… If you only auditioned for ambassador and got a call back post on this… Because right now they are fake and its bullshit…

  33. Are you all just NOW figuring this out that its about the money??!! Like the poster above said… each girl that goes through auditions has to pay their audition fee. Let’s calculate this.. 400 girls times $25 each NOT counting the prep class fee is a total of $10,000. That is ALOT of money. If any NFL organization said “We are only looking for 9 girls this year” do you really think they would still get the high numbers of 400 + ?

  34. DAMN RIGHT… All the want is DAMN MONEY…
Thats why only AUDITIONING FOR AMBASSADORS IS BULL SHIT… THEY TEASE THOSE GIRLS AND NEVER PICK THEM… Stephanie, And VIHKY if you read this START INTERVIEWING ALL THE GIRLS who ONLY Auditioned for ambassadors, they should get that opportunity since they auditioned early on and you guys wont remember who they are… Who knows they might be hot with an amazing personality… Get to AUDITION THOSE GIRLS. INSTEAD OF FUCKIN teasing them and not even callin any of them back. ITS BULL SHIT…

STEPH AND VIHKY, if you want to make a difference and people stop talking shit… CALL THOSE GIRLS WHO AUDITIONED FOR ONLY AMBASSADORS and get to know them one on one… EVER think they could have AMAZING Dance skills but would prefer to interact with the fans only…
THINK ABOUT IT AND CALL THEM NOW… THEY WASTED $25.00 each…

  35. I must agree on giving a date for ambassadors and having the girls already selected prior to that date. I think the date they said this year where they were to BEGIN callbacks for ambassadors was April 14th. I personally know a couple of people who have already received emails stating that they have made ambassador.

  36. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE TWO PEOPLE who just wrote. Its not fair to keep those girls who only tried out for ambassador waiting around like idiots. Its not fair, she needs to call those girls back and meet with them… I was told she did phone calls and not emails. Any girls who only auditioned for ambassadors write back

  37. Just wanted to give my two cents on my personal experience. I have auditioned for other pro teams before and have never felt as encouraged by any other team than the WRC. No other team provides the extensive prep and advice in dance and looks. At no other audition was I able to have a face to face conversation with the coach regarding my hair style or how to work on my turns. I went to many prep classes and I truly got the sense that Stephanie wanted each girl to be able to do their individual best. I have never felt so prepared for an audition as I did with WRC, and I was so proud to make it to semi-finals, especially considering how many beautiful and talented women were auditioning.
And regarding the veterans, I was actually pleasantly surprised at how helpful some of them were to even the most beginner dancers at prep classes. Many times I saw vets step off to the side to assist a struggling girl who obviously had no experience and who also did not have “the look.” And any time I was missing a step of the routine being taught, I just asked a vet, and they were glad to help.
I have more respect for this organization now after going through the audition process. I wish Stephanie and all the WRC the best in the upcoming season.

  38. Just FYI in regards to the Ambassador questions… I have never tried out for any professional NFL team, don’t know any of the Redskinettes, sponsors, affiliates, etc. but was called as a finalist for the Ambassadors team that I auditioned only one round for. Based on my experience thus far, the process seems fair. Unfortunately, to the ladies that did not get a call, you just don’t have what they are looking for. Don’t take it personally, study the girls that make the team and try to emulate their skills/traits and try again next year.

  39. I must say I tried out for both the Eagles and Redskins a few years ago, made it to semi-finals for both teams, and the Redskins girls were extremely nicer. They were eager to help, very polite, made me feel welcome whereas in Phili the girls were snobby, closed off, and did not want to talk to any girl unless you were already on the team. So thank you to the Redskins cheerleaders for being so nice – the few moments us noncheerleaders have with you do make an impact.

  40. The girl who posted two up that says the process is fair. Did you audition for the actual team or for only ambassadors?

  41. I only auditioned for the Ambassadors team on the 28th.

  42. To the person that only auditioned for the Ambassadors and got a call back-congrats and I hope you make it. I think what seems to be the complaint as far as the ambassadors is concerned is the fact that at the tryouts, it was stated that call-backs for ambassadors would BEGIN on April 14th. However, as early as last week, people began receiving call-backs. When people say the process is not fair, that may be what they are referring to. There are probably hundreds of girls hoping that starting tomorrow, they could possibly hear from the Redskins about being an ambassador, when most likely the squad has already been chosen by that date.

  43. They did make call backs for ambassadors. I just tried out for ambassadors and got a call.

  44. Ambassadors: At tryouts they said they would call in two weeks. I got my call back on the 8th. Just less then 2 weeks. The 14th is the interviews, where they will see you again to refresh their memory and pretty much try out again.

Note- I just tried out for ambassadors, and I got my call. Sorry ladies. Honestly, good luck next year.

Congrats Cheerleaders, hope to be meeting you soon! You’re all beautiful and talented!

  45. What time did you get your phone call at? and from what number? Do you have to wear professional clothes or just your outfit again?

  46. The bottom line is if you do your research, you know what your getting in to. I have 4 girlfriends who tried out including myself. None of us made it. They are all beautiful girls and very talented when it comes to dancing. Bottom line is there was something missing, if you know that, your feelings won’t get hurt. You just do your best, deal with it and try to improve for next year. The Redskins are truly a great organization and I look forward to trying out again in the future.

  47. Call back came last week. You wear your tryout outfit

  48. if you got the call you know what to wear and where to go.

  49. Anyone know who the veteran was that got cut from the cheerleading squad?

  50. NO, but the team is bullshit so are the damn coaches and the directors. 830% of girls wore high heels and then they still allowed them on the dance floor when they said no high heels are allowed on the dance floor.
So if someone is to audition what is a great outfit to wear?

  51. Here are the girls that were on the team last year and not on it this year:
    Sooin
    Tiffany
    Anabel
    Arlene
    Shannon
    Anna from West Virginia
    Eileen
    Jenni
    Omayra
    Sharica
    Denise
    Kate
    Kristhena

I am not sure which ones quit or which ones got cut…

What is the process like for ambassadors for tomorrow?

  52. Some of the black female cheerleaders hair extentions are awful! I don’t want to sound offensive especially given that I’m not black….but wow! Jamilla’s hair extentions look semi, and Kelly’s hair extentions were horrible, Michelle’s look good. Do they have staff on hand to assist them with their hair?
With an exception of Michelle, a few of them didn’t look that great at the finally. I’m not hating it’s just constructive criticsm…I actually made the team.

  53. Ugh did you look at the auditions on YOU TUBE… They are OUT OF SYNC and there is this one girl who is altering her dress its sooo tacky… Jamilla is captain, so she has say on whatever she wants… Yea I mean even black girls there were saying that their extensions were not bad…

OK LOOK AT THE VIDEO BELOW…
It is them walking in their sexy dressy outfits… Well starting at about 1:43 a certain group walks out, there are 5 of them I think… Well the black girl in the short black dress keep looking at her as she enters with her terrible attitude as in “OH NO” and then also look at her altering her dress as she dances right around at: 1:52/1:53 she does it a few times… What type of people do they seriously pick? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygCwNZaedCQ

ALSO for this dance these girls are ALLLL OUT OF SYNC AGH PLEASE LOOK ITS TERRIBLE…
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwErQv-ZW6w

  54. OMGosh Kelly’s dress is HOTTT, BLAZING…..but the weave is WACK!!! What the hell….

  55. MEET JAMILLA

She’s 32, originally from Newport News, Virginia, and is in her sixth year as a Redskins cheerleader.

She’s also a CAPTAIN of the team, so DON’T get on her bad side.

  56. Hahaha, big deal captain. A captain is to be there to help the girls improve. Plus hasnt there been a veteran on the team for 10 years now? Shouldnt she be captain?

HOW WERE AUDITIONS FOR AMBASSADORS? what did they do? when does everyone hear back?

  57. “dont get on her bad side” are you JOKING me?! this isn’t high school – captains should be leaders not intimidators especially if she is 32 years old.

  58. Jamilla is now entering her 7th season and is 33yrs old. Sooin was on the team 10yrs but chose not to come back this season. Nor did Anabel…..she was the prettiest and one of talented ones on the squad. She made the cover of many magazines….she could model professionally if she wanted to. She looks good with and without make-up.

  59. Seriously some of you need to find ways to move on. Be an adult about things. Maybe if you presented yourself to the vets better maybe they would’ve been nicer to you. I thought this year over years past the vets were extremely nice and more approachable. I didn’t make the team but I’ll be back next year. Going to prep classes really help and if you check out other teams in the area, you have to pay to go to there prep classes too, so honestly get over yourself. Vets get cut from all NFL teams. The judges for the Skins were women too not just suite owners, and or men. These women do have full time jobs, just because they don’t have a catchy title for there position with Booz Allen or the Department of Homeland Security, they have jobs. So really don’t judge or speak about something you don’t know anything about when your just being bitter, their are other ways to get through what ever it is your going through with out blogging about it. Lifes short enjoy other things that make you happy, but if dissing the redskins organization is what gets you by in life then thats really sad.

  60. Ahmen!

  61. I heard callback auditions for Ambassadors was Tuesday the 14th. Girls got called earlier on but were told to all show up the 14th in their audition outfit. And if you didnt get called BY the 14th that meant you weren’t selected for callbacks. The 14th was basically the “finals” for ambassadors. And it’s so the judges could get another look at candidates and talk to them and refresh their memory to make a better decision. I dont know who the judges were that day or how many there were but I heard (my friend went to callbacks) that there were about 60 girls there and that they were told a final decision would be made friday (17th). I auditioned one year for “ambassador only” and made the team. And my photo that I attached to the application was just a quick pic I had my bf take with my camera of me standing against a wall in my living room, then i went to CVS and printed it out the day of auditions. So a professional photo isn’t always necessary. It’s also about the impression you make in that quick speech you make about yourself in front of the judges too and maybe the background you have, for example if you were involved in anything that required you to be VERY social. Cause Ambassadors spend hours prior to and during the game just talking to random fans and signing pictures. There are girls from cheerleader finals that wanted to be considered for ambassador if they didnt make cheerleader. That’s why it takes so long for phone calls to go out. Those in charge of choosing ambassadors want to be able to look at ALL available candidates before they make their final decision. So although it sucks to have to wait anxiously by the phone weeks after initial auditions, it’s necessary in order to give everyone consideration.

  62. I’m going to switch it up a little bit and say how great of an experience I had trying out for the Redskins Cheerleaders. I had so much fun at the prep classes, and knew the entire time what I was getting myself into – this is a professional organization. Truth is, being an NFL cheerleader is a level many talented and beautiful girls will just not achieve…even girls that have danced and or cheered their entire lives. Everyone was very nice and helpful throughout the entire process. I am sad to see people who feel like they have been judged unfairly to be so quick to judge this orginization so unfairly in return. I’m sure no one intentionally tried to hurt your feelings – maybe critism and rejection just hurts. Do the best that you can do, and keep trying. That way you will never feel like you failed. If it is meant to be, it will be. If not, smile and move on. Best of luck to all of you.

  63. I have a response/message for various groups of ladies.

To those who are upset with the Redskins Organization due to try outs – This is a professional business, and although its very easy to blame the organization, management, or judges for the decisions made, they are not doing anything wrong or tricky…they simply do their job. The management ultimately knows what they are looking for. You truly have to have a certain look: you have to be very fit, have beautiful skin, beautiful hair, positive attitude, etc. The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders are known throughout the WORLD! They also appear in beautiful yearly calendars, which are bought by thousands if not more people each year! This is a big deal. Ambassadors have to have the same qualities as cheerleader since they represent these beautiful ladies in front of fans at every game and event. Once again, there are very specific characteristics that judges and management look for, and they should! I’m sure you all are drop dead gorgeous…and please don’t take any decisions personally. So many ladies try out every year; no matter how pretty and taleted you are, Redskins can’t take everyone. If they could, they absolutely would…but this is not up to just management or judges…the decisions are based on the entire cheerleading industry at the end of the day. You, however, should absolutely not give up and please come back next year. One year the Redskins Organization may need more blondes, the following year they may need brunettes…no matter what your look is, you just never know! :-)

To the ladies who made Cheerleading Squad – CONGRATULATION!!! You were amazing at final tryouts and your fans cannot wait to see you on the field!

To the ladies who are potential Ambassadors – You are almost there!! This squad is absolutely an honor to be on for many reasons, especially since Washington Redskins was the first ever NFL team to come up with Ambassadors. You will have a great season!

To all – Please smile because you are all beautiful and it’s absolutely guaranteed that there is at least one person in your life who thinks you are the best thing in the world :-)

  64. I truly enjoyed the experienced of the prep classes, meeting veterans and rookies and auditioning. I am not a professional dancer, but knew trying out as an Ambassador was where I would fit. I haven’t heard anything so, I I will try again next year to be part of the First Ladies of Football as an Ambassador.

You are all amazing, the organization and the ladies of WRC. Thank you. I am blessed and enriched with my life – – as stated above there is at least one person in your life who thinks you are the best in the world :) I know I have a lot of friends and family who hold me there. Keep smiling!

  65. I tried out for Ambassador and loved the entire process. I went to prep classes, Project Cheerleader and everyone was fantastic. Stephanie has been so helpful since day 1. I started emailing her months ago and she was quick to respond and encouraging. The current cheerleaders were also encouraging and very helpful. I loved the entire process and I’ve met some great friends. I can’t say enough positive things about the organization, coaches and sponsors.

  66. waiting sucks!!! ambassador candidates know what i mean :o]…

  67. does anyone know who the 3 alternates are for the 2009-2010 cheerleading team?

  68. OMG! OMG! This is madness. So many people sipping on that haterade. If you have such a problem with the way Skins tryouts went, you NEED to watch the past 4 years of Cowboys cheerleader tryouts. They have re-runs on CMT!

No its not fair, but what in life is? If you don’t have it, you don’t have it. Give yourself a break and try again next year!

P.S: the silly heffer who had the nerve to disrespect Donald (and Stephanie and Vihky), I’ll tell you, Vihky is not a bitch you wanna mess with! And Donald AND his bf, (was that supposed to be an insult? As if Donald isn’t aware of his own sexuality…stupid!) will kick your rejected butt! Get over yourselves and grow up!

  69. this is so funny.

  70. who would want to join a squad like this where everyone is saying to beware of the coaches?

  71. I would.

  72. Posting people's phone numbers on my blog is VERY VERY unacceptable. I am sure "MARK LAWSON" is trying to stir up trouble by making Kelly's phone number available to the public. Please refrain from causing drama or endangering someone's well-being by promoting hackling/harassment via phone.

  73. wow i'm planning on auditioning next year and i have never auditioned for the NFL before, and i tell ya what some of these people are scaring the hell out of me. i've done professional modeling and i took dance for 9 years and i've been busting my butt lately to get in awesome shape and i still have a long hot minute before next years auditions. but im not negative nor am i a hater i just want to have a fun experience and meet new friends and yeah i would love to make the squad but there is a chance that i wont. so i wanna be able to walk away and say i had a fun experience and that i will audition again. so if somebody that is nice and has positive things to say will respond and kind of tell me what to expect that would be really nice. ;)

  74. Nothing against the girls they are all beautiful and great at what they do but honestly the things they wear and not just the Redskins but all of the cheerleaders in NFL is pretty distasteful in my opinion. Yea i know its wat GUYS love to see but honestly leave a little to the imagination. IM not saying wear uniforms like highschool but I just dont see what it is about butts and boobs all out in the open. Yea sex symbol ok i get it but its my opinion if you dont like it OOOOO WELL

  75. Hello. I want to try out for an ambassador only this year. What should I wear? and should i wear high heels or flats? boots or shoes? Also, what do i say suring the 30 second speech? what do they want to hear?

  76. When are they doing final call backs for ambassadors this year? What do they ask during the final auditions

  77. When are they doing ambassador call backs
